Winter in Meran and surroundings

Apple blossom in spring, the beautiful Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle in summer and snugly harvest evenings in autumn. And in winter? Who thinks that Meran offers nothing in winter has mistaken.

In the surroundings of Meran there are many small but nice ski regions which are appropriate particularly to families.

Skiing in Meran an surroundings

For instance the Tarscheralm ski region in Latsch, where the little ones learn skiing from ski instructors, while the parents enjoy the area without have to worry about the kids. Similar ski regions are situated in Ultental Valley and near Meran. The ski resort there is called Meran 2000.

Apart of them there is a more challenging ski region in the surroundings of Meran, too. It is situated in the homonymous Schnalstal Valley on a more then 3000 m high glacier. The ski resort is opened even in summer and it is – needless to say – one of the most snow-sure ski regions of South Tyrol.

Who prefers to stay in valley will feel fine in the city of Meran. An afternoon in the thermal baths Meran for well-beeing, shopping in the precious boutiques to treat oneself with a little bit luxury and romantic evenings on the idyllic Christmas Market.

You see, Meran is worth visiting also in winter, that’s for sure.
